Minerva Knows, Inc., announces its first financing of $1.1M. The round was led by Charge Ventures and Max Ventures with participation from Sagehill Capital, Bayes Capital, New York Venture Partners, and Tribe Capital. The company was founded with a mission to rid the world of wasteful and time-consuming red arrows and page diagrams that are a poor reproduction of true customer support on software applications and platforms.

Sharing process knowledge is a major unsolved problem. Anyone who has created process documentation for customers, for colleagues, or for training, knows this first-hand. Well run organizations create documentation for predictability and efficiency. But these documents are time-consuming to create, frustrating to use, and nearly impossible to maintain.

“I came up with the idea for Minerva after spending hours documenting how to deploy software to AWS. I couldn’t stand it. I thought: ‘there has to be a better way,’” said Joaquin Roca, Co-founder and CEO of Minerva. “By contrast, no one is confused by the simplicity of Minerva. This is a powerhouse product inside a lightweight, intuitive, and elegant interface. We are creating an important community-generated repository for finding, capturing, and sharing any process on the internet,” Roca continued.

“This is actually a huge burden lifted off of me… as we roll out our scheduling tool to 5 new people next week. I actually didn’t need to train a new hire to use our scheduler because she installed Minerva.” — Zoe Goodman, LifeLabs Learning

Key features and benefits of Minerva’s process knowledge platform include:

  • Effortless creation of clickable instructions for anything, anywhere on the internet, even on properties you don’t own;
  • Community collaboration and sharing of process knowledge through publicly available processes (which Minerva calls “recipes”) right when and where the knowledge is needed;
  • Elimination of static assets (videos, screenshots, etc.) which are time-consuming to create and nearly impossible to update and maintain;
  • Seamless support in a remote-first environment without having to get on yet another Zoom call;
  • Support for native experiences through their SDK as well as a browser extension, which enables one continuous user experience across any number of websites, which is a major advantage.

At the heart of Minerva’s solution is a proprietary action-based sensing engine (FADE: Framework for Action Detection and Execution). While enabled, Minerva captures the actions you take, automatically creates documentation, and collapses the process into a shareable link with clickable instructions embedded. Professional documentation creators have reported the time it takes to produce these documents is dramatically reduced, often by 10 times or more.

As part of their launch, the Minerva team is partnering with other organizations and individuals to provide relevant and timely value to their communities. For example, they’ve compiled recipes helping people navigate arcane government websites, e.g., to check their voter registration or request an absentee ballot.
